Final Soundslide Rationale!
I was hesitant when picking a topic or something that I am passionate about for my final project, a 2 minute soundslide. I decided to complete a soundslide about my Uncle who passed away in Iraq. My uncle is very important to me, and I wanted to show the class just how much he meant to me. Also, I knew this would be a great keep sake and "gift" for my family. I chose to play the song "You Raise Me Up" (the instrumental version) in the background because it really connects to the message that I wanted to convey throughout the sound slide. The song really touched home, and made my project just that much more emotional, a characteristic I was striving for. One difficulty I faced when completing this assignment was trying to find an instrumental song that I could use for my background music. Not having access to an iTunes account to purchase the song, and having no means to download it, I found it difficult to not only find the song I wanted, but more specifically to find the instrumental version of it. Originally I had wanted to play "Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews Band, because it was my uncle's favorite song, however I was limited and forced to use "You Raise Me Up". If I had more time I would definitely try to find an instrumental version of the song I actually wanted. My biggest challenge was putting all of my work together into the sound slide. I had my pictures ready, my voice over commentary, and the song I had chose. The difficult part for me was compiling it all together and aligning the slides with my voice and the pictures. I am most proud that I could incorporate someone I am very passionate about with my school work, thus making this project very personal and very meaningful. Overall, this project is something I will keep forever.
